Operation Homefront - 8 September 2007. Guys this was a super ride for those in the Atlanta area. We had eight members and auxiliary show up on a warm Saturday that turned out to be an excellent riding day - all to raise money for the great things Operation Homefront does for our Soldiers. We started at Motorhead's Bar and Grill; after a brief speech by Governor Huckabee we blasted through three metro counties with police escort - only way to ride through Atlanta! We closed out the ride with a visit to a local Hooters for some post ride libation. | Wild Santa Ride - 30 September 2007. This was a huge ride!! We had twelve members; supporters and auxiliary making a ride to Helen as they begin their Oktoberfest celebrations. One of our own – Rhino – even made the opening remarks as we began the toy drop in Lawrenceville --- way to go! The weather started a little cool as we blasted out of Atlanta but really warmed up as we got into the mountains. There were so many bikes that it took over two hours to make it to Helen ... the only thing moving fast was the Lawrenceville PD. Scared the bejesus out of ya when they came by at Mach with lights and siren!! The best part of the day was our lunch in Helen ... thanks to Doc's unsurpassed skill at finding chow! We definitely need to make this an annual event. | Then and Now Car Show - 10 November 2007. And the big news .... Georgia CVMA Sergeant of Arms, CPT EJ, takes First Place in the OEF/OIF contemporary bike category. When asked, he attributed his success to careful preparation prior to the show. He stated that he "favors clean diapers to prepare his bike" that he lovingly refers to as "Sunshine", indicating that "the dirty one's just don't work as well". Okay perhaps I'm taking a few liberties here, but EJ did walk away with the First Place Trophy - well done! For the rest of this story you're going to have to show up at the Chapter Meeting in Macon on 15 December - it's well worth your trip! As for the Car Show - it was a great effort and good time for the First Annual "Then and Now Car Show" sponsored by Operation Home Front. We need to make this another one of our annual events. Our Chapter showed the colors and managed to raise some money for the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. Thanks to all that supported this great event. |
